Teresa's books
Teresa and her husband John-Brian have collaborated on two books: "Sacred Sites of Wisconsin" (2001) and "Sacred Sites of Minnesota" (2004) for Trails Books.
The books explore sites of spiritual significance to people from a spectrum of faith traditions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Native American, and more, and exposed the suprising diversity of faiths in the midwest. For both books, John-Brian did most of the research; the couple visited hundreds of sites together; and Teresa wrote most of the text.
The books received - and continue to receive - excellent reviews. A small sampling:
"A superb reference for anyone seeking to take a spiritual journey within Wisconsin, no Wisconsin community library state reference collection would be complete with the inclusion of John-Brian and Teresa Paprock's 'Sacred Sites Of Wisconsin.'" (Midwest Book Review)
"(The) Paprocks do a fine job of documenting religious properties associated with the many ethnic groups that have called Wisconsin home." (Joe DeRose, historian, Wisconsin Historical Society)
"What a great opportunity to think back on churches and other places that mean so much to us. And what a great opportunity to visit them again!" (Amazon review)
"('Sacred Sites of Wisconsin') provides proof of a rich legacy of common belief, right in our own backyards." (Jay Rath, Isthmus)
"Inclusive in its approach, ('Sacred Sites of Wisconsin') showcases the diversity of beliefs that are a part of Wisconsin heritage. This guide will be of interest to spiritual seekers, historians, and those who might want to expand their knowledge of their own faith and its heritage in the state." (Amazon review)
"The collaboration of (the Paprocks), 'Sacred Sites of Minnesota' impressively presents approximately 350 sites throughout Minnesota ...this unique travel guide is very highly recommended ... for a truly memorable excursion into the metaphysical resources of this Midwestern State." (Midwest Book Review)
"(In 'Sacred Site of Minnesota') the Paprocks bring a vision of interfaith understanding across traditional lines and across time from ancient to modern. Knowledge of local traditions other than ones own is a unique starting point on the global religious journey ... The remarkable mix of world religions in the center of the North American continent is a treasure that is waiting for discovery. This book opens the way." (Delton Krueger)
Teresa has also edited two books: "Living in the Eighth Day" (2006) by her husband, and "Raising the Bar on Service Excellence - The Health Care Leader's Guide to Putting Passion Into Practice" (2008) by Kristin Baird, RN, BSN, MHA.
"Eighth Day" reviews:
"What a wonderful book ... I will try to intigrate reading these chapters with my normal daily spiritual practices. I will certainly recommend this to others ... His message is timeless and true, wherever and whenever it is read." (Peter Farrington, British Orthodox Fellowship)
"Paprock explains why he doesn't usually carry a Bible with him when he makes hospital rounds: '... in our tradition, we're taught to carry the Scriptures in our hearts and souls.'" (William Wineke, Wisconsin State Journal)
Baird's "Service Excellence" reviews:
"Kristin Baird is passionate about improving the patient experience. In her new book ... she outlines the path to success for healthcare leaders by offering real life case studies and practical action steps. Healthcare professionals seeking answers would benefit from reading this book. Kudos to Kristin for her insight and willingness to share her expertise that she acquired over the past 30 years." (Brooke Billingsley, author, speaker and vice president, Perception Strategies, Inc.)
"This book is invaluable reading for the novice and the experienced "customer experience" professional. I would highly recommend this book and Kris to anyone who wants to have a deeper understanding of the customer dynamics in health care and how everyone contributes to those dynamics." (Jean M. Hitchcock)
"Kristin Baird has done it again, and just as she professed, she has herself 'Raised the Bar' with this new Leader's Guide for Service Excellence. Kristin's insight into the challenges now facing healthcare in this 4th generation of healthcare service improvement provides a model to capture the broad concepts, the strategies and tactics to capture the interests and actions of our healthcare teams, and the stories to capture our hearts ... (It) has now taken the place of 'most read, referenced, and revisited' in my library of resources." (Lynn Ehrmantraut)
